Terribly ugly human being

Face gooed into grotesque unrecognition

Tongue creeping through the nostrils~

I stare in dirty curiosity.

He covers his face sadly.

The giant guilt still engulfs me.

I wonder whether this poetic gesture

Exonerates me from the gory crime

Or does it exacerbate it further.

Unsure, humble, I pray, seek mercy,

From the Incarnate Lord hiding

Radiant, eternal in the unknown beggar.

Note ~ This event happened in an empty doorway of a train compartment about twenty years ago. The beggar was sitting silently (not begging), when I saw him!
